The call of duty franchise is a first and third person shooting game made by Ben Chichoski. The series of games began on the PC then gradualy made way onto the consoles. The majority of the games have been set in world war II with the exception of modern warfare, modern warfare 2, Black ops and the upcoming modern warfare 3. The games are published by activision and developed by Infinity ward and tryach with other games being developed by Gray Matter Interactive, Spark Unlimited, Pi Studios, Amaze Entertainment, Rebellion Developments, and n-Space.

Call of Duty: World at War developed by Treyarch is the fifth installment of the main series, and returns to the World War II setting of earlier titles. On June 9, 2008, it was confirmed that the game would be titled Call of Duty: World at War and would be set in the Pacific theater and Eastern front of World War II. The game uses the same proprietary game engine as Call of Duty 4. Call of Duty: World at War was released for the PC, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360 consoles and the Nintendo DS handheld in North America on November 11, 2008, and November 14, 2008 in Europe. at War has sold over 11 million copies. Zombies?!? On March 18, 2009, Activision and Treyarch announced that downloadable content (DLC) was under development for World at War, titled Map Pack 1. This first installment of DLC Treyarch released, Map Pack 1, on March 19, 2009 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, while the Windows version received the DLC at a later date. The map pack includes three new multiplayer maps and one new Nazi Zombies map. The Nazi Zombies map, entitled Verrückt (German: 'crazy'), includes new weapons and power-ups intended to expand the experience. Players can turn on a power generator that reunites both sides and enables perk machines. The new multiplayer map called Nightfire takes places at night in the streets of a bombed-out area of Berlin. The Knee Deep map is in the jungle of Peleliu and contains fortified huts and streams. Station is located in a ruined underground train station in Berlin featuring subway cars and hidden passages.
